Every listing on The Guitar Pit gets automatically tagged based on its brand, price, condition, and community activity. Some tags are reverent. Others are not. Here's what they all mean and how a listing earns them.
Brand Tags
Reserved for the highest-tier luthiers and builders. The card gets a holographic rainbow tilt effect that follows your mouse, like a rare trading card. The tag itself shimmers in gold foil.
Triggers: Rick Toone, Castedosa, Teuffel, Padalka always. Ritter, Marchione, Benedetto, Languedoc, Nik Huber, Ruokangas, Frank Hartung, Tao, Scott Walker, Somogyi, Olson at $7,000+.
✨ Holographic card effect with 3D mouse-tracking tilt. Rainbow prismatic overlay. Purple glow border.
A tag that follows specific users. The tag flickers like a broken CRT monitor with a red scan line sweeping across it. If you have this tag, you know what you did.
Triggers: Posts by greg1213 or David Hume.
For Strandberg guitars. Pink and purple anime shimmer with sparkle corners. If you're playing a headless ergonomic guitar, you're deep in it.
Triggers: Any Strandberg listing (including Boden and Salen aliases).
For Gibson guitars. Rendered in a serif font like the newspaper you'd read while complaining about kids and their modeling amps.
Triggers: Any Gibson listing.
For BC Rich guitars. Grimy gold-on-black with a monospace font and vertical stripe overlay, like something scratched into a school desk in 1987.
Triggers: Any BC Rich listing.
For Fender Custom Shop guitars. Red, white, and blue gradient. These are handmade in Corona, California, and the tag lets you know it.
Triggers: Fender + (Custom Shop, Masterbuilt, or Team Built). Excludes Squier.
For Kiesel and Carvin guitars. The text scrolls endlessly in neon green like a stock ticker for custom shop orders. Jeff is taking calls.
Triggers: Any Kiesel or Carvin listing.
For Parker guitars. Italic serif font on a refined gray background. The Parker Fly was ahead of its time, and this tag respects that legacy.
Triggers: Any Parker listing.
For ESP USA and ESP Original series guitars. Not E-II, not LTD. The real deal from the custom shop.
Triggers: ESP brand, excluding E-II and LTD models.
For Friedman guitars. Orange and hot. Dave Friedman's amps are legendary, and now his guitars get the flame treatment.
Triggers: Any Friedman listing.
For Aristides guitars. Dark with animated dripping goop — because Aristides guitars are made from a proprietary resin material called Arium. They're literally goop.
Triggers: Any Aristides listing.
Triple money bags for Castedosa guitars. Small builder, big prices, bigger waiting lists. Also gets the Elite card effect.
Triggers: Any Castedosa listing.
For EchoPark guitars. The prices on these things require a certain kind of commitment.
Triggers: Any EchoPark listing.
For deep-cut boutique and vintage-style brands that only a true connoisseur would know. Blinks pink. If you're shopping for a Melancon or a Shelton, your taste is... specific.
Triggers: G&L, LSL, Morgan, GJ2, Kramer, Charvel, Novo, Fano, Bilt, K-Line, Reverend, Heritage, Shelton, Grosh, Melancon, Sol, Schecter Dream Machine.
For acoustic guitars. From Metalocalypse, when Murderface asks "what are those wood things, chairs?" Acoustics are chairs now.
Triggers: Acoustic, dreadnought, parlor, classical, nylon string, fingerstyle, and specific model numbers (D-28, J-45, Taylor 314, etc).
Condition & Quality Tags
Budget and import brands get the dripping green goop treatment. Three animated drips ooze off the bottom of the tag. Over 60 brands qualify. If it came with a gig bag that smells like a factory, it's Slop.
Triggers: 60+ brands including Harley Benton, Glarry, Donner, Firefly, 10S, Monoprice, First Act, and many more.
For any guitar listed under $500. Gray and muted, like the tone you're getting out of it.
Triggers: Price under $500.
The opposite of Elite. For guitars that are beaten up, cheap slop, or forgotten by the market entirely. The card gets shattered glass cracks radiating from the upper right, a cobweb in the corner, and floating dust particles. Shakes when you hover over it, like it might fall apart.
Triggers: Fair/poor condition (coffin emoji), cheap slop brands under $300 (spider emoji), 60+ days with low engagement (spider emoji), or 90+ days with <15 watchers and <3 offers.
🕸️ Cracked glass overlay. Cobweb in the corner. Dust particles floating up. Shake on hover.
Condemned's older sibling. When a listing has been sitting for 6+ months with under 30 watchers, it's no longer just stale — it's decomposing. The tag pulses with a sickly green glow. Nobody wants this guitar, and the market has spoken.
Triggers: 180+ days listed with <30 watchers.
A full year on the market. At this point the listing is an archaeological artifact. The seller is either delusional, emotionally attached, or has forgotten the listing exists. Fossilized guitars get a cracked stone texture. No amount of watchers or offers can save you — if it's been a year, it's a fossil.
Triggers: 365+ days listed. Unconditional — nothing overrides this.
Market Activity
When 3 or more listings of the same model appear within a 7-day window. Something is happening with this guitar — either everyone's selling or everyone wants one.
Triggers: 3+ listings of same model in 7 days.
Above Trending. When 10+ listings of the same model appear in 30 days, something cultural is going on. A YouTuber reviewed it. A factory closed. The teal glow pulses slowly, like a signal.
Triggers: 10+ listings of same model in 30 days.
The highest tier. When 20+ listings of the same model flood the market in 30 days, you're witnessing a collective consciousness event. The tag pulses in dark red with flickering occult symbols and a drifting background. Named after the concept of a thought-form created by collective belief.
Triggers: 20+ listings of same model in 30 days.
No tag — just a card-level effect. When a listing attracts heavy offer activity shortly after being posted, the entire card gets a subtle warm red glow rising from the bottom, like heat radiating off the deal. The border pulses amber. Means people are fighting over this one.
Triggers: 3+ offers within 2 hours of listing, or 5+ offers within the first day.
🔥 Subtle red ember glow from the bottom. Warm border. Breathing animation. Active listings only.
Deal Grades
Every Reverb listing with enough market data gets a letter grade comparing it to the average sold price for that model. The grade tells you how the asking price stacks up against what people actually paid.
A — 30%+ under avg
B — 15-30% under
C — within 15%
D — 0-15% above
F — 15%+ above
Requires 3+ data points for the same model to generate a grade.
Discord User Tags
Community members can tag links when posting them in Discord by adding a !tag modifier after the URL. These tags are applied by the person who posted the link and show up on the listing card.
For links posted ironically or listings that are objectively terrible. Overpriced junk, delusional sellers, cursed mods, or guitars that should've stayed in the dumpster. Has animated stink waves and flies buzzing around the tag. The community's way of saying "look at this disaster."
Usage: Post a link followed by !garbage
The holy grail — a once-in-a-lifetime find. Reserved for the kind of listing that makes your heart stop. Rare models, impossible prices, or guitars most people only see in magazines. Glows with a reverent golden aura.
Usage: Post a link followed by !grail
Someone doesn't know what they have. A listing priced way below market value — the kind of deal you drop everything to jump on. Has a sneaky green flash effect because you're basically getting away with robbery.
Usage: Post a link followed by !steal
For listings that are funny, weird, or culturally significant in the guitar world. Custom paint jobs gone wrong, celebrity-owned disasters, or anything that makes the Discord erupt. Rainbow cycling colors because memes contain multitudes.
Usage: Post a link followed by !meme
Status Badges
Listings are tracked after they're posted. When a guitar sells, the card shows the final sale price, how long it sat on the market, and whether it sold above or below asking. Unlisted items (removed by the seller without selling) get a muted "Unlisted" badge. Price drops are tracked in real time with the original price shown as a strikethrough.

Some tags come with full card-level effects — animated overlays, borders, and textures that transform the entire listing card. Here's what they look like.
